Accessibility for Everyone at the Rock Show: A Convo with Cassie Wilson of Half/Access

Episode Summary

How do you plan out the next show you're going to? Some people have to to take a few extra steps to attend because of disabilites and venues being, surprisngly, not fully ADA compliant. Cassie Wilson founded Half/Access to showcase this issue plauging the scene. Artists like Grayscale and Save Face are continuous supporters. In 2017 Wilson won the 2017 Sub City Grant from the Alternative Press Music Awards.

Episode Notes

Many of us never think twice about how we're going to get into a show.

Besides buying, winning or knowing someone to get in, actually finding a spot or even getting to the GA section can be a challenge for those with disabilities.

Cue Cassie Wilson and her non-profit, Half/Access.

She aims to compile a list of venues across the U.S. (and some internationally, too!) That are friendly and accessible to people who have to plan out more than just if their mom is going to drive them to the gig.

Wilson also recieved the Sub City Grant in 2017 at the Alternative Press Awards.
